Tŷ Hafan visit Blog

Hi, I’m Sian, I work for Media Panel Wales  and since launching the panel two years ago I have worked with Tŷ hafan to offer our members the opportunity to donate  to Tŷ Hafan as reward for completing our surveys, We were recently invited to visit hospice to see how the money raised by our members has helped the charity.

I’ve meet up with Shelly the charity’s Coordinator in the West quite a few times to discuss the partnership, and her enthusiasm and anecdotes about the care and opportunities received  by the children and their families at Tŷ Hafan are always so inspiring, however visiting the hospice and seeing with my own eyes the love, care and amazing opportunities that Tŷ Hafan offers to the children at young people in the hospice and in their communities was very inspirational experience.

The hospice was far from the ‘hospital’ that I had imagined, it was a colourful, welcoming, calming place and they had everything imaginable to make the lives and experiences of children and their families as cosy as possible, they have also found ways of offering opportunities, activities and resources that would not be available or accessible to these families were it not for the existence of ty Hafan.

The money raised by our members who fill in the simple weekly surveys about what they watch on TV is spent on delivering and developing care and experiences not only for the children and young people receiving the care but for their brothers and sisters and his parents also.
